Samsung Galaxy S5 charging problem

When you use the Samsung Galaxy S5 you will notice some issues that you can live with, but I bet the one that's the most annoying is the charging time. If you try to charge the SGS5 via USB or with a different charger, it will take forever to go from zero to full.

As you may know, the SGS5's battery is larger than its competitors, thus it needs more current in order to charge in reasonable time. The original SGS5 charger and cable provides 5V and 2Amps, while the laptop usually provides between 100mA and 500mA(max). So, a quick math shows that if you charge the smartphone from a laptop you will need to wait 4 times more...  You will notice the same slow charging time if you are using a 3rd party USB cable with a 3rd party charger. You may experience the same slow charging in your car.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Charging problem fix
This smartphone will charge from 0% to 100% in under 2 hours, but only if you are using the wall charger and the original cable. In order to get a second charger with the same charging time, make sure it provides 5V and 2Amps or it won't be as fast.

  1. I found this to be true. I was using a backup charger, not a Samsung original, and it was charging super slow. Used a spare Samsung original charger and it charged super duper fast. Thought something was wrong with my phone, but nope, it was the charger!!
