Installing CyanogenMod on Galaxy S5

If you are not pleased with your Galaxy S5 and you feel that it's laggy, especially when you try to open too many apps, you can always try to install a custom ROM. By far, the best ROM for Galaxy S5 is CyanogenMod and you can see impressions of using it for a week on this gadget blog.

Using a different mail app for SGS5

This is not really an issue, but rather a solution to a question. I know folks that are not so found of Android's email app, so using a 3rd party solution is always welcomed. I'm not going to review all the mail apps on Play Store, but I will share my opinion on the app that I'm using right now K-9 Mail. You can download it for free on the Play Store and set your accounts in no time. You may need to use manual settings for AOL mail, but you will find the settings instantly using your good old friend... Google.

Strange sounds when you use the loudspeaker

I noticed this issue when I was talking with my mom using the loudspeaker and I was checking the mail in the same time. Mom told me that she heard strange noises on the line, and I instantly understood the problem: the SGS5's display is set to activate a quick vibration when you touch it. So, every time you open an app or when you scroll on a page, the smartphone will vibrate. I guess the Galaxy S5's mic is too close to the body, because it captures this vibration and it sends it to your conversation partner.

How to fix this issue
The only way to fix this issue is to disable to touch vibration by going to Settings > Sound > Vibrate when tapped and disable that option. You should also check the InCall settings and disable unwanted notifications...

No previous song on the headphones remote controller

I hate this issue! I'm used to changing songs by using the small buttons on the headphones' wire and when I love a song I always play it couple of times. But with the SGS5 it's impossible to do that, because the app allows you only to play the next song.

No previous song on the headphones fix
Using a third party app will fix this problem. I recommend the Poweramp Music Player, a complex music app that has tons of features under the hood. It will enable the "previous song" function on your headset.

Samsung Galaxy S5 charging problem

When you use the Samsung Galaxy S5 you will notice some issues that you can live with, but I bet the one that's the most annoying is the charging time. If you try to charge the SGS5 via USB or with a different charger, it will take forever to go from zero to full.

As you may know, the SGS5's battery is larger than its competitors, thus it needs more current in order to charge in reasonable time. The original SGS5 charger and cable provides 5V and 2Amps, while the laptop usually provides between 100mA and 500mA(max). So, a quick math shows that if you charge the smartphone from a laptop you will need to wait 4 times more...  You will notice the same slow charging time if you are using a 3rd party USB cable with a 3rd party charger. You may experience the same slow charging in your car.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Charging problem fix
This smartphone will charge from 0% to 100% in under 2 hours, but only if you are using the wall charger and the original cable. In order to get a second charger with the same charging time, make sure it provides 5V and 2Amps or it won't be as fast.

Hello friends, welcome to this blog

Hey there and thank you for visiting. Before getting into the main topic of this blog, I should share few things about me. I'm a student at a tech university in Europe and I'm into gadgets for some time. I've always had the top-notch smartphone and, even today, I love to test the flagship devices from every company before actually making my mind and buying a smartphone. This year, I changed my old iPhone 5 with a brand new SGS 5. That's a Samsung Galaxy S5 for those who are not familiarized with that SGS5 term. When I bought this device I knew that it's not flawless, but I was not expecting so many small issues with it, issues that can become a real pain if you are not fixing them fast.

So, on the Samsung Galaxy S5 problems blog, I'm going to address few issues on this smartphone and hopefully make your day brighter by proposing few fixes for your device. Again, thanks for reading these lines and thank you for sharing my blog with other SGS 5 users out there... peace n love
